I've had ME/CFS for 12 years, starting while I was in high school. At the beginning 2009, I embarked upon a new treatment approach using antiviral herbs and supplements. The October 2009 news of a possible link between the retrovirus XMRV and CFS has reinvigorated my search for effective antiviral and immunomodulating compounds. This blog is designed to document my treatment experiences and research I come across. It is not to be construed as medical advice.

Starting ViraStop
After looking at the research behind it, I've decided to add yet another supplement to my regimen. It's called Virastop. It contains enzymes that are thought to help dissolve the coating surrounding viruses, making them more vulnerable to the immune system. A study from 1995 showed enzyme treatment to be equal in effectiveness as the antiviral drug acyclovir for herpes zoster. Since Epstein-Barr is in the same virus family, I am hopeful that this will be effective for that too.

I am starting a low dose regimen for the treatment of warts on my hands and arms. They aren't too numerous or large, but they've been bothersome for years. After little to no results with topical cremes I thought an internal route might be more successful. I'm hopeful as well.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask if virastop has been effective?
ReplyDeleteMay 21 Anon,
ReplyDeleteSee my later posts about it from May. I couldn't tell if it was making a difference, but it was also upsetting my stomach so I stopped it.
