Unfortunately, I have had to stop the valacyclovir due to various side effects. My last dose was Friday, May 14. Saturday night I developed a moderate headache/inflamed brain feeling but by the next morning it was gone. I took it a total of five weeks. Perhaps I will try another drug such as Famvir or Valcyte in the future. Another possibility is that the generic version is slightly different, so maybe I should try a short course of the brand name Valtrex just to see if the effects and side effects are identical as they should be. Anyway, that's that. The only problem now is I have a large stockpile of valacyclovir and nothing to do with it.
I've decided to switch to Transfer Point beta glucan which is supposed to be one of the best brands. It's also easier to take because they make 500mg capsules--that's 3 capsules per day instead of 15. It is quite a bit more expensive but I'd like to try this for several months and see if it does anything. I also started taking Vitamin C again, since it's supposed to make beta glucan work better. I've lost count of the number of "trials" I've done with Vitamin C...I've always had to stop it due to anxiety and insomnia, even at low doses. I'll try to push through those side effects as long as I can and see if I get anywhere.
